Stewart Surfboards

Bill Stewart caught the surf bug at the early age of 12 and has since then worked his way into the upper Escalon’s of the surfboard shaping masters.  With his determination, hard work, artistic mind, and not to mention amazing surfing ability, Stewart Surfboards has now been around for 27 plus years and are located in Bill’s favourite city –  San Clemente, California.
In the early days, Bill was under the tutelage of Rick James and Hobie, paying his dues absorbing all he could of board design and hard work.  And after his first shop opened in 1978, Bill had a break through in longboard design, with the invention of the beveled rail Hydro Hull.  With Bill’s Hyrdo hull rail system in place, it was pushing longboard performance to new levels.  Faster, harder turning boards.  This design is still on the forefront of longboard technology today.
From very humble beginnings, Bill has now shaped over 40,000 boards and his Stewart Surfboard team of shapers has 100,000 plus under their belt.  They now boast that they are the “Kings of Customs” and rightly so.
